The Golfers brings the timeless language of classical sculpture into the contemporary world of sport.

A man and a woman stand side by side like figures emerging from an ancient sculpture. Both wear draped garments inspired by classical statuary. The man holds a golf club, with a golf bag standing beside him, while the woman holds a golf ball in her hand.

Their serene, monumental presence contrasts with the unmistakably contemporary references to golf. As in classical sculpture, the figures embody an idealized sense of strength, harmony and physical presence, while the sporting objects introduce a modern dimension.

Against a deep black background, vibrant vertical stripes create movement and rhythm. Fine white stucco is selectively applied to the illuminated areas of the figures, enhancing their sculptural quality and creating the impression that the two bodies are emerging from light and darkness.

The work belongs to my “We ART the Champions” series, where classical beauty and contemporary sport meet. Through these figures, golf becomes more than a sporting activity: it becomes a contemporary ritual, connected to ideas of balance, precision, discipline and human connection.
